You can
find out service times and differences between contemporary and traditional services
on the Worship pages. Here's some general
information to make your first visit more comfortable:
The
atmosphere in worship is relaxed. You don't have to worry about "making
a mistake" -- no one will be judging how you act.
Come
as you are -- there's no dress code. You'll see men and women wearing
everything from suits or dresses to jeans.
Children
of all ages are welcome in the services.
At
both entrances to the sanctuary (where the service is held) there will be a stack
of worship folders. Please take one. There are children's activity sheets
there also, if you have kids. Usually there is someone greeting people at the
door, and they will be happy to answer questions.
You
can sit anywhere you feel comfortable.
On
Sundays, the service is projected on a screen up front. This makes it easy to
follow what's going on -- just watch the screen!
On the screen and in the worship folder you will also find announcements about
church activities.
There
will be directions from the worship leader about sitting or standing at
different times during the service. You will not be asked to identify yourself
as a visitor. But we would like for you to fill out one of the Welcome cards in
the seat rack in front of you and put it into the offering plate when it comes
around during the service.
Speaking
of the offering, please do not feel obliged to give any money if you do
not want to. Many church members give monthly rather than weekly, so no one will
notice or care whether you give or not. If you do want to give something, there
are giving envelopes in the seat rack in front of you.
Our
worship services include the Lord's Supper (Communion) every week. All
baptized Christians are welcome to participate. But if you prefer not to, you
may remain in your seat -- no one will think it's odd.
If
you have other questions, please feel free to ask anyone you see, or to contact
the church before you come the first time.
